Ya'll if you feel freedom from having no god, then you were following a false god. So, of course, you'll feel freedom. God is real. Jesus Christ is real. He gives you true freedom & true peace. You probably never actually had a relationship with God. My life isn't perfect but i hear from God. And He helps me figure out my problems. He legit sees you where you're at. I know because i have experienced it. He's met where I'm at. He pursued me & loves me thru my mess. And that includes being corrected & freed from doing the things that will damage my life (aka sin & unwise decisions).

Why is this so beautiful?

This is just lovely. I had a great conversation with my cousin recently about her deconstructing extremism and scrupulosity. Today she is still a devoted Christian, but she is raising her kids In a progressive church where they won't be subjected to shame, prejudice, and biblical literalism. She lets them dress outside gender norms, changes pronouns in children's books to represent varied identities, and fosters curiosity about nature and science. Now, I'm a lifelong atheist and love hearing about journeys out of religion. But I equally love stories about people who keep their faith while rejecting the toxic structures of extremism. Thanks to the Beal family being vulnerable and sharing their stories. There's a place for you in this crazy world of love and learning ❤❤❤

i do think bethany has a lot to attone for simply because of the sheer scale of harm girl defined has caused. but i have a feeling that if she continues to have friends who challenge her compassionately, she will get there. no one has to be the person who reaches out to someone that has caused harm. its commendable that y'all have chosen to take that effort, even if it didnt immediately perfectly work out. cheers.
